Udaipur, February 12, 2019: Dr. Raghupati Singhania, Chairman & Managing
Director, JK Tyre & Industries Ltd. received the coveted Lifetime Achievement Award 2019 by the Udaipur Chamber of Commerce & Industry (UCCI) today. The honour is in recognition of Dr. Singhania’s visionary leadership, determination, humanitarianism and
exemplary community services undertaken in Rajasthan.
The award was presented by Ms. Shobana Kamineni, Executive Vice Chairman of Apollo
Enterprise Limited and Mr. Hans Raj Choudhary, President, UCCI at a glittering ceremony in
Udaipur on the occasion of UCCI’s Foundation Day.
Commenting on the occasion, Dr. Singhania said,“I am humbled and grateful to receive the
Lifetime Achievement Award 2019 from Udaipur Chamber of Commerce & Industry. I dedicate
this award to over 30,000 people of the JK Group. It is their hard work and dedication that has
culminated in the success we have achieved over the years. I would also like to congratulate
UCCI for the excellent work being done in promoting the cause of trade and industry in this
part of Rajasthan. I wish them profound success in this great endeavour.”
JK Tyre’s CSR programmes aim to provide solutions for sustainable livelihood to local
communities. Company’s adult literacy programme that started in 2004 at all
manufacturing locations has already transformed the lives of thousands of rural illiterate
women who did not get formal education. The success of this initiative can be gauged
through the recurring incomes that are generated by the women in these communities.
Particularly in Rajasthan, the Company started the Parivartan Project in the tribal areas of
Kankroli. The program that provides maternal and child healthcare services to community
members has significantly brought down maternal and infant mortality rates in the region.
In the Rajsmand district of Rajasthan, the Company supports the network of People Living
with HIV/AIDS (PLHIV) and provides them guidance, medicines and nutritional
supplements. So far, over 1034 PLHIV have enrolled in this network and have been linked
to various Government social schemes such as Antyodaya and Palanhar.
In 2016, the Udaipur Chamber of Commerce & Industry took the initiative to institute the
excellence awards to recognise businesses and industry leaders who are doing exemplary
work in the field of Manufacturing, Services and CSR.
The selection for the life-time achievement award is done by a panel comprising of Past
Presidents of UCCI and eminent external jurors from the areas of academia, administration
and finance.
